About the artist
Hello!
My name is Cindy Yuan, and I am a 17 year old, self-taught artist and just recently graduated from Stratford District Secondary School (formerly Northwestern). I have always been interested in drawing ever since I was a little girl. From 3-year-old me doodling on a children’s whiteboard to drawing cartoon suns in the corner of every paper I receive, my world has been filled with art for as long as I can remember. My interest soon evolved into a hobby, which then developed into a skill, and ultimately a passion.
My art began with following trends and mimicking already created works, like those lip biting on lime drawings and animated characters. I eventually progressed towards realism when I began drawing my favourite actors and movie characters, developing a specific interest in realism and illustrating portraits. Throughout this realism journey, I have experimented and gotten quite comfortable with several mediums, like acrylic paint, watercolour, graphite, pencil crayons, and ink.
Since moving to Stratford two years ago, I have taken my art journey to another level. I was previously very lucky to have had the opportunity to create two custom commissions for a local business, The Perth County Inn, including a signage displayed on Ontario Street, and a 4ft x 20ft mural located across from the Shakespearean Gardens. A collection of my work was also displayed in the Stratford Gallery this past winter as part of their annual Student Show.
This year, with the help of the Summer Company Program, I have successfully started my own business, doing no other than my favourite activity—art.
Please check out the variety of commission services I offer and contact me through the contact page. I am very flexible, so reach out to me with any wild ideas you might have!
